THE BARREL FACTORY

Masterproject Bergen Arkitekthøgskole spring 2016
Students: Luise Storch
Tutors: Thomas Wiesner

A big factory next to the water, in the corner of Dale. With a view to the fjords and the Dale bridge.
The Factory was built in 1926 and has since been used as a barrel factory, but today the factory is used by a contracting company.
The new transformation is a bathhouse, a place where people from Dale can relax and enjoy the view and surroundings of the fjord, take a swim outside and inside.
Inside is a saune which leads almost directly to the water. Further inside you reach two baths, one hot bath and one cold bath. When the oceanwater reaches its highest point it will fill up the cold bath room from the floor level.
Even further in, there is a steambath in a dark room with no natural light, where you can sit or lay on a big stone to relax.
